Born Marie Agathe Odile, Her Royal Highness Princess of Denmark, Countess of Monpezat, was born on 6 February 1976 in Paris, France.

The Princess's parents are Alain Cavallier and Françoise Grassiot, married June 14, 1975, since divorced. Alain Cavallier is the former co-owner of an advertising agency and has retired. Françoise Grassiot is the proprietor of the hotel 'Château de la Vernède ". She was November 7, 1987 married Christian Grassiot, financial advisor. Princess has a total of four half-brothers, Benjamin and Gregory Grandet, both born in Switzerland, and Charles and Edouard Cavallier, both born in Paris. All half-brothers are like the princess grew up in Paris.

Princess Marie was until the wedding of HRH Prince Joachim French citizen and belonged to the Roman Catholic Church. In connection with the marriage, the Princess joined the Evangelical Lutheran Church and became a Danish citizen.

WEDDING
On 24 May 2008, Marie Cavallier married HRH Prince Joachim of Denmark and was at the wedding HRH Princess Marie, Countess of Monpezat. The wedding ceremony took place in Møgeltønder Church and wedding banquet was held at Schackenborg Castle.

CHILDREN
His Highness Prince Henrik Carl Joachim Alain born May 4, 2009, and Her Highness Princess Athena Marguerite Françoise Marie was born on 24 January 2012.

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
The princess went to primary school in Paris in the years 1981 - 1989. In 1989, the Princess moved to Beau-Soleil International Boarding School in Villars, Switzerland, and attended boarding school until baccalaureate June 1993. 
Princess studied international business relations and economics at Babson College, Boston, Massachusetts, USA (1995-1997) and economics at the University of Geneva (1994-1995). The princess is Bachelor of Arts from Marymount Manhattan College, New York (1997-1999).

In the academic year Princess worked in the summer of 1994 by Estee Lauder in Paris as assistant to the head of press and in the summer of 1997 as assistant to the CEO of ING Numismatic Group SA in Geneva, Switzerland. Princess taught alongside their studies in French.

After the completed university studies, the Princess worked as an international marketing coordinator at the advertising agency DoubleClick Inc. in New York. In 2002, Princess moved back to Paris and worked in the press department of the French advertising agency Media Marketing.

In 2004, the Princess was assistant to the director of the Reuters financial news agency Radianz in Geneva. From January 2005 until the marriage to Prince Joachim, the Princess worked as executive secretary in ING Numismatic Group SA.

LANGUAGE
The Princess's mother tongue is French. Princess also speak Danish, English and Spanish.
RESIDENCE
Prince Joachim and Princess Marie have from summer 2014 residence at Amalienborg Palace.
